YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Set It Up - District 38 2003-2005 Distinguished District

Evaluation song from the Princeton Youth Group.

Todd Greenwood is the District 38 contact person for anyone interested in Speechcraft/Youth Leadership programs.  The district will pay for a limited number of Speechcrat/Youth Leadership programs.  Please contact Todd for additional information on Speechcraft/YLP Programs.

Toastmasters International's Youth Leadership Program (YLP) is an informal course in communications created to help develop the speaking and leadership skills of young people ages 14 to 17.

The program is designed as an interactive workshop to be conducted in eight sessions, each session lasting 1-2 hours. An adult coordinator and assistant(s) help prepare and monitor the sessions; however, the young participants themselves conduct the meetings. At each session, participants learn ...

  • Speech preparation & presentation
  • How to conduct meetings
  • Effective listening skills
  • How to evaluate/offer helpful advice
  • Participate in/lead group discussions or meetings

YLP News

Evaluation song from the Princeton Youth Group.

APRIL 2001 - A group of 35 young women enrolled in the Philadelphia High School Business Academies, successfully completed the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program (YLP) under the guidance of Big Blue Toastmasters (#6120). This youth group was part of an internship program sponsored by Independence Blue Cross in collaboration with Big Blue TMs.

The 2001 group, Dynamic Speakers, led by youth president Monique McCurry, delighted and amazed attendees of their graduation ceremony as they displayed polished communication, presentation and leadership skills. Previous youth groups were The Voices of Youth (1999), youth presidents Nakia Parker and Wanda Edmonds; and Verbal Perfection (2000), Simmone Hayes, president.
Many congratulations to the Dynamic Speakers and to program coordinators Dee Easley and Evelyn Easton.

JUNE 2001 - The Lumberton-Medford Youth Leadership Program, sponsored by the Moorestown Area Toastmasters (#4887) graduated ten New Jersey area youths, ages 12 to 17. The young communicators demonstrated their newly acquired skills to an audience of fellow youngsters, parents, and Toastmaster members.
Congratulations and many thanks to program coordinators Richard Nasuti, Philip Abers and Denise Lee.
