YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Set It Up - District 38 2003-2005 Distinguished District

Evaluation song from the Princeton Youth Group.

Pam Thornton is the District 38 contact person for anyone interested in Youth Leadership programs.  Please contact Pam for additional information on YLP Programs.

Toastmasters International's Youth Leadership Program (YLP) is an informal course in communications created to help develop the speaking and leadership skills of young people ages 14 to 17.

The program is designed as an interactive workshop to be conducted in eight sessions, each session lasting 1-2 hours. An adult coordinator and assistant(s) help prepare and monitor the sessions; however, the young participants themselves conduct the meetings. At each session, participants learn ...

  • Speech preparation & presentation
  • How to conduct meetings
  • Effective listening skills
  • How to evaluate/offer helpful advice
  • Participate in/lead group discussions or meetings

YLP News

Recently Toastmasters In Unity #755315 sponsored a Youth Leadership group in Lumberton.  Miki Baker coordinated this program; Jo Stante.  On August 19, 2008 11 exceptional young adults graduated from this program.   The group meetings were held in the home of the Boyajian Family, the same family that hosted the Medford-Lumberton Program in 2001.  They plan to host another program in the near future.

The Voorhees Club #1009854 has been sponsoring Youth Leadership Programs in the Camden County Library since chartering August 15,2007.  The initial group was "kicked off" by the Mayor of Voorhees.  The first couple programs were coordinated by John Hargrave and Philip Zoebish of Camden County Toastmasters #1189.  Subsequent groups have been coordinated by Jatin Mehta and Wade Cohen of Voorhees Toastmasters.  (Jatin knows the graduation dates and the number of graduates)
