Advanced Communication & Leadership Program

The complete Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership program consists of two tracks - a communication track and a leadership track. When you first join a Toastmasters club you normally will concentrate on the basic communication track because this is where you learn speaking and listening skills and earn your Competent Communication Award (CC).

But eventually you will want to challenge yourself even more and participate in the leadership track, too. The two tracks are not mutually exclusive; in fact, you are encouraged to work both as the same time.

Advanced Communication Track

This program features 14 manuals with five speech projects in each. Some manuals focus on career-related presentations, such as public relations and technical speeches, while others address such topics as interpersonal communication and storytelling. You choose the manuals you want to complete and the skills you want to learn.

There are three levels of accomplishment in the advanced communication track; Advanced Communication Bronze (AC-B), Advanced Communication Silver (AC-S) and Advanced Communication Gold (AC-G). Each level requires you to accomplish two of the advanced Communication & Leadership Manuals. You will also start learning how to present seminars and training sessions by completing two programs from The Better Speaker Series and/or The Successful Club Series. and completing a Successful/Leadership Program, a Successful/Communication Program or a Youth Leadership Program.

Leadership Track

You will learn more than just communication skills in your Club. You'll build leadership skills when you organize and conduct Club meetings and motivate others to help you. You can develop additional skills by serving as a Club officer, formulating and implementing plans to help the Club meet members' needs. You may also complete the High Performance Leadership program, working on a leadership project related to your personal or professional life. Serving in leadership positions at other levels of the organization also will help improve your leadership skills.

There are three levels of leadership training, the Competent Leader (CL) and the Advanced Leader Bronze (AL-B) and Advanced Leader Silver (AL-S).

To receive the Competent Leader recognition you must complete 10 projects from the Competent Leadership manual. Each project consists of fulfilling various roles leadeship roles in the club each stressing a different leadership trait.
